Keeper Leagues?

Every year, there are discussions about changing our league to a keeper league. And every year, it gets shot down; mainly because it takes away from the best part of the year…the draft.

One interesting approach that I’ve heard is the idea of redshirting freshman. Before each draft, owners can submit a list of 10 freshman they’re “recruiting” and the corresponding round they’d be willing to forfeit in the draft to have that player on their team. The owner who forfeits the highest round signs that freshman to their team and forgoes their pick in that round. Unlike typical redshirting, the freshman can play on your team that season. Also, the owner has the option of keeping the freshman on his team for one more season if they’re willing to forgo that same round’s pick the next year.

Advantages? Keeping a player for the next season. Potentially getting a stud the next year at a much cheaper cost.

Cons? Losing a potentially high draft pick for a freshman who could be a bust.

What do you think? Any interesting keeper ideas?

Terrelle Pryor

At times it seemed painful watching Terrelle Pryor throw the football last year. However, I was looking at his stats from last year…he wasn’t too bad. 12 touchdowns passing with 4 interceptions. 60% completion rate. 600 yards rushing with 6 rushing touchdowns. Does he have that Vince Young progress jump in him?

Tim Tebow

Year 1: Contributor to a National Title
Year 2: Heisman Trophy (32tds passing, 23tds rushing…sick)
Year 3: National Champion (30tds passing, 12 rushing)

Does another Heisman or National Title seal the deal on this?

College Fantasy Bowl

Have you ever found yourself looking at other site’s rankings (maybe even CFB’s) and wonder “I know more than these fools.” I have and so have many of the owners in my college fantasy league.

Let’s face it, the amateurs know more than the “pros.” This year, College Fantasy Bowl is allowing anyone to be an author on this site. You have some good insight? Want to project a player for the draft? Want to rag on other rankings? This is the forum. Anyone who sets up an account can author posts on this site.

Let’s show the pro’s what we’re made of…
